 October 1, 1998 -- Roy Neal Dow was born in Carrizozo, New
Mexico on January 3 1932. He was the last born in a family of 11 children to parents
Jenny Ethel and Eugene Charles Dow. Roy spent his childhood in the quiet town of
Carrizozo. |
| Roy left Carrizozo, New Mexico in 1951 to
join the United States Air Force. |
| From there Western Union had him traveling the
western states filling in for operators on vacation. Later in his Western Union
career, Roy managed his own Western Union office in Artesia, New Mexico. |
| After retiring from Western Union, he
moved back to Carrizozo and opened The Gift Gallery. Its first location was a block
away from Paden's Drug Store. |
| Roy N. Dow enjoys singing and has been featured
at the Holiday Festival in Alamogordo, and participates in the Carrizozo little
theatre. He has now added surfing the Internet to his list of hobbies. |
